Not all music heard in churches stretches back centuries. For 20 years, the American Composers Forum has commissioned composers from Minnesota and around the country, through its Faith Partners program, to create works for churches across the spectrum of belief. In this episode of “Whole Note,” Matt Peiken speaks with the program’s director, Suzanna Altman, and longtime Minneapolis composer Victor Zupanc about the challenges and rewards of working with different faith communities in creating meaningful musical works.
