VIDEO: Minnesota Orchestra Musicians and Osmo Vänskä Perform Grammy-Nominated Sibelius Works

The musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra and Music Director Osmo Vänskä performed Feb. 1, 2013, at the Minneapolis Convention Center to celebrate their Grammy Award-nominated recording of Sibelius Symphonies. This MNuet video takes you backstage before the concert to meet several musicians and delivers extended passages from the concert. It was the first time the musicians and their music director had performed together this season amid a management-imposed lockout of musicians.

  1. Fantastic! Thank you so much, Matt. If the orchestral association had a lick of sense, they’d post something like this to YouTube after every single subscription concert. Talk about great publicity; it would almost certainly increase ticket sales and contributions (and CD sales, too). How could anyone not respond positively to this amazing level of musicianship and ecstatic audience support?

  2. Bravo Matt, I was at the concert and also felt sad that so many people would not have the opportunity to share in this event. You have splendidly captured the sound, feeling and importance of that moment in time! I understand this is going viral, as well it should. Thanks so much. Deborah
